3Not an accurate photo
By aquapt
I'm a physical therapist and use these discs with patients. I prefer the ones, like the J/Fit and the Harbinger, that have a relatively flat top and bottom, with a wide vertical rim joining the two... not the "flying saucer" style where a concave top and bottom meet at a narrower rim.

The photo here shows a disc with a wide, flat rim with the name brand printed on it. The actual disc that arrived is more of the "flying saucer" shape with a seam around the perimeter - no flat surface to print on. If I'd known this, I would have foregone the admittedly good price and paid a few dollars more for a disc that looks like the picture. These are OK, but I don't like them as well for sitting balance and body awareness training.

5Balance Disc
By stature
I own and have sat on a Fitball (large exercise ball) at home for many years now as I surf the 'net at my desk and have fun on Amazon. At work we just went paperless and ...it hurts from the hours of sitting since we no longer have a reason to jump up and sprint to the fax or print things. I hear everyone complaining, but no one has yet done anything but try to remember to get up when the pain is too much.

I bought this disc for comfort to sit on. The disc gives your chair the feel of an exercise ball. It makes me move to keep balance instead of sitting rigidly, and that movement takes the pressure off back muscles and keeps circulation going and abdominal muscles working happily. This disc has downloadable exercises that I have not tried, and pictures on the box of exercise poses you might try (no exercise instruction on the box). It also is fun to try to balance on. I played a game where one person tries to balance and when they are, I then pretended to be swaying on a ship in front of the balancer which makes it much harder for the balancer to keep up their balance. Its fun to balance on all by yourself too and works your muscles. The spikey side faces up and is what you stand on and its comfortable without shoes. The smooth side is placed down onto the floor.

The box says Made in China. It comes with a pump but its already inflated, and I liked the way it was inflated so did not have to use the pump at all.

update: I have been using this at work for about 2 weeks now and it helps. The best way to use it for my liking is to sit so that my tail bone hangs off the edge. The inflated disc though feels like a harder surface than a cushioned chair. It keeps me shifting around so now hopefully I won't develop a bed sore from all this sitting...

2Keep looking and spend a little more!

I wear a size 7 and I can't comfortably get both of my feet on this disc. It's too small. It needs more air but I couldn't figure that out. Barefoot - which is how I do my pilates, balance work, it hurts your feet. I don't recommend this product, in case you hadn't guessed. It's pretty.
